Valentines Day is my favorite holiday

I absolutely love, Love.  What better day to celebrate love than on Valentines day.  Although I do not have special plans with my significant other tonight I do have plans to have a V-day dinner with my mom.  Taking the emphasis off of romance and placing it on just saying I love you to my loved ones makes Valentines day less about the frou-frou cheesiness of the holiday and more about appreciating each other.  I know this may all sound like something in a Hallmark card, but it’s true!  I think this should be the day where we all just show our love and appreciation for those we hardly ever recognize.  If you want to do something nice, but don’t have the cash to do it then simply saying “I love you and you mean the world to me” is worth more than anything you could pay for.  Be thrifty, unconventional, and creative this Valentines day.  While roses, cards, and candy are nice to receive what comes from the heart means the most and always lasts longer.

Steady but surely

I think I’m actually getting used to this whole blogging thing.  I actually posted on someone else’s blog which is HUGE for a novice like myself!  Besides steadily learning how to operate in the blog world i’ve realized an interesting parallel in my life.  My growth as a Christian is much like my growth as a new blogger.  I’m consistenlty learning new things daily that help me become a more well rounded and learned individual.  While I’m growing at a slow pace my efforts are producing a positive outcome that I can say I’m proud of.  The struggle to put time and effort into my spritiual life along with learning how to be apart of social media are hugefor me, especially when I want to do other things.  While I would love to be excelling at these areas of my life, the sad truth is that I’m traveling at about 5miles per hour-which is SLOW!  I want more knowledge and more desire to learn about these things in my life, but unfortunately i’m lacking the key component-desire.  I don’t doubt I’ll get it back, but as far as how long that will be is unknown to me.

A little more in depth…

Aside from dancing and being intrigued with the beauty and expression from the art form, I have another area of my life that I try to dig deeper into and explore every single day.  My daily growth as a Christian is something that I find to be the biggest part of my life presently.  I was raised in the church, but strayed away from it all throughout middle school and high school.  I got really involved into the party scene and felt like this was what living was all about-having fun, getting drunk, and living under no one’s authority.  It wasn’t unitl I entered into college that I began asking myself, “Is this all there is to life?”  On the surface I was enjoying everything that my peers were engaging in, but on the inside I wanted so much more.  As a senior in college this year I still find myself on a roller-coaster ride with my spirituality.  While I’ve toned down a great deal since high school and freshman year I still want so much more of God in my life.  My New Year’s resolution for this year was to make sure that I go to church every Sunday.  Even if I go out the night before I have to make sure that I’m walking through the church doors by 11 am.  So far I’ve kept my promise to myself and I don’t see myself faltering at all.  This little step that I’m taking will ultimately help me acheive the relationship with God that I have yearned for the majority of my life.  Walking daily with God is something that I will continue to do and while I am not fully where I want to be I know God’s working on me and I know he’s definitley not done with me yet…

So you think you can dance?

Some people feel like they may have been born with two left feet.  I, however, feel like dancing is apart of everyone they just haven’t had the oppertunity to express that side of them yet.  It is a forgiving art form that creates the weird and unconventional into something beautiful and remarkable.  If you’re curious to release your inner dancer join me at Pamoja.  It is an on-campus dance group that is for non-dance majors/minors.  The group is diverse with people from all walks of life and comprises of eclectic dance styles that combine to create a wonderful group.  The first meeting is on Monday January 28 in Memorial Hall at 7pm.

Dancing is my soul’s passion

My original blog started out with something like “Technology is NOT my frined” and ended with me saying that “there is potential for me to one day enjoying this whole blogging ‘thing’”.  After thinking for a minute about what I could contribute to the world wide web I figured the best thing I could offer was my passion for dancing.  I love ballet, modern, hip-hop, and jazz .  You name it and Ive tried it and loved it! I currently dance with a group on-campus that is for non-dance majors/minors.  It’s a fun way to get rid of stress and express yourself creatively.   I want to share my love for this art on my blog and hopefully get some others to join in on my passion!
