I’ve been in Athens for almost four years and am embarassed to say that I’ve never been to Five star day until yesterday. Last week I ventured off into a Latin restaraunt and this week I wanted to try something new, but popular among the people who live in Athens. I went to Five Star Day not knowing what to expect out of a place called “five star”, but was really anxious to get over there once I heard it was a southern inspired restaraunt. My first impression of the place was that it was very “Athens.” Kind of country and kind of city all wrapped into one tiny little nook. The food there is out of this world! I got a half-baked chicken with hop and johns(black eyed peas and rice combo) , fried green tomatoes, and mac and cheese. If that’s not southern I don’t know what is. The food was prepared fresh and tasted delicious. As far as price goes it’s fairly reasonable. Meals range from $5-$10. For the price you get a lot of food which is totally ok with me .I absolutely recommend this place to anyone who hasn’t ecperienced the joys of good southern food.

A change of heart
Instead of randomly posting on this blog everyweek I’ve decided to try out a new restaraunt every week and blog about it. Last night a friend of mine asked me to go out for dinner to a restaraunt that I had never been to before. As hesitant as I was at first I thought it would be a great opportunity for me to expand my horizons and create a new topic to blog about. Last night we decided to go to this amazing Latin tapas restaraunt in town called “Casa Mia”. They’ve got everything from empinadas, seviche, and sirloin kababs. It was a tasty experience that I recommend to anyone and everyone. The tapas are all affordable ranging from $5-$10 and the portions are more than enough. The service was great and the atmosphere is really cozy. I had a blast going to this exotic and beautiful restaraunt I can’t wait to see where I go next week.
Valentines Day is my favorite holiday
I absolutely love, Love. What better day to celebrate love than on Valentines day. Although I do not have special plans with my significant other tonight I do have plans to have a V-day dinner with my mom. Taking the emphasis off of romance and placing it on just saying I love you to my loved ones makes Valentines day less about the frou-frou cheesiness of the holiday and more about appreciating each other. I know this may all sound like something in a Hallmark card, but it’s true! I think this should be the day where we all just show our love and appreciation for those we hardly ever recognize. If you want to do something nice, but don’t have the cash to do it then simply saying “I love you and you mean the world to me” is worth more than anything you could pay for. Be thrifty, unconventional, and creative this Valentines day. While roses, cards, and candy are nice to receive what comes from the heart means the most and always lasts longer.
Steady but surely
I think I’m actually getting used to this whole blogging thing. I actually posted on someone else’s blog which is HUGE for a novice like myself! Besides steadily learning how to operate in the blog world i’ve realized an interesting parallel in my life. My growth as a Christian is much like my growth as a new blogger. I’m consistenlty learning new things daily that help me become a more well rounded and learned individual. While I’m growing at a slow pace my efforts are producing a positive outcome that I can say I’m proud of. The struggle to put time and effort into my spritiual life along with learning how to be apart of social media are hugefor me, especially when I want to do other things. While I would love to be excelling at these areas of my life, the sad truth is that I’m traveling at about 5miles per hour-which is SLOW! I want more knowledge and more desire to learn about these things in my life, but unfortunately i’m lacking the key component-desire. I don’t doubt I’ll get it back, but as far as how long that will be is unknown to me.
